After saying that he has to make it up to his wife, President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos enjoyed a night out as they attended the concert of American singer-songwriter James Taylor in Pasay City on April 8.

The First Lady uploaded photos of their date night on social media, the same day President Marcos said he must make up for lost quality time after his trip to the USA this week.

"An evening with James Taylor," she wrote on her Facebook account late Tuesday, April 9.

The photos showed the couple watching the 76-year-old Grammy winner perform.

The "You've Got A Friend" singer serenaded his fans at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday evening, seven years after he canceled his concert in Manila in 2017 to protest the drug-war killings during the Duterte administration.

During the concert, Taylor thanked his fans for the warm welcome. He last performed in Manila in 1994.

"It took a very, very long time. Thanks for having us back," he said.

The First Couple's date night came after President Marcos admitted that he and the First Lady missed out on two date nights because of their busy schedule.

In a vlog post in February this year, the First Couple revealed that they make sure to go on date nights every Wednesday.

"Wala. Dalawa na-miss na namin na date namin (We have no time. We missed out on two dates already)," he said in response to a question from a reporter in Bacolod City if they have time to go on dates.

According to the President, he must make it up to the First Lady after his trip to Washington, DC this week.

"Kailangan ko babawi pagbalik ko galing sa States. Nagtatampo na sa akin (I need to make it up to her once I return from the States. She's sulking already)," he said.

Marcos is set to leave for Washington, DC, on April 10 for the first trilateral summit with US President Joseph Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on April 11.
