Bus driver killed, 9 injured in road crash in Quezon

PAGBILAO, Quezon â€“ A 35-year-old bus driver was killed and nine individuals were injured after a Bicol-bound bus crashed in Sitio Mangrove, Barangay Ibabang Palsabangon here on Tuesday night, April 9.

Police identified the fatality as Manuel, 35, from Buenavista, Quezon.

Investigation said the Del Monte Land Transport Bus Co. (DLTB Co.) bus with license plates TYZ-553 driven by Manuel was on its way to the Bicol region from Manila when the fatality miscalculated the sharp curve on the Maharlika Highway and crashed into two houses, two motorcycles, a mango tree, and Manila Electric Co. electric posts.

The victim died on the spot.

Eight passengers and a resident, Elisa Balein, 67, were injured. The two motorcycles and houses owned by Jemerson Amo, 41; and Celine Pulgar Reyes 67, and Emilio Madulin Balin, 68, sustained damage.

The injured were taken to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City, Quezon.
