2 dead in SUV-motorcycle crash

CEBU CITY – Two persons were killed in a vehicular accident involving a Sports Utility Vehicle and a motorcycle at the viaduct of the South Road Properties (SRP) here on Wednesday morning, April 10.

Police identified the fatalities as Brian James Liva Pedrosa Bayarcal, a 26-year-old driver of a ride-hailing app, and his passenger Cheal Jane Coronel, 28.

The SUV was driven by Dominador Duyongan, a 60-year-old resident of Barangay Pardo, this city.

Police Major Jonathan dela Cerna, chief of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the accident happened around 11 a.m. while the motorcycle was traversing southbound and the SUV was heading north.

Dela Cerna said that the accident occurred when the motorcycle hit the center island.

Because of the impact, the two motorcycle riders were thrown off and landed on the opposite lane where they were hit by the SUV. The bumper of the SUV was heavily damaged due to the impact.

The motorcycle riders suffered severe injuries and were already dead when paramedics arrived.
