ILOILO CITY – The Holy Week was generally peaceful in Western Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-6 recorded a decrease in crime incidents in the region.
PRO-6 said there were 319 criminal incidents during the Holy Week, 120 fewer compared to 2023 with 439.
Three-thousand, one-hundred policemen were deployed in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod. They were deployed in churches, pilgrim sites, resorts, recreational parks, and other key areas.
They were augmented by 2,986 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and force multipliers such as barangay tanods or watchmen.
Police Regional Office-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky cited them for their achievement.

Five minor non-criminal incidents were recorded in Western Visayas.
“These were four drowning incidents and one vehicular accident,” said Police Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson.
