Don't fall for it! Cong Pimentel clarifies that governor-bro is 'alive and well'

Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel took to Facebook to call out a wicked piece of fake news or April Fools Day joke about his brother, Governor Ayec Pimentel.

Rep. Pimentel posted on Monday, April 1 a news item that claimed the governor had died of lung cancer at the age of 71.

This is a 100 percent lie, according to the veteran congressman.

"It has come to our attention that there are rumors circulating in social media falsely claiming the passing of my dear brother Gov. Ayec T. Pimentel. This is to clarify that these are fake, baseless and untrue. Gov. Ayec is very much alive and well," Rep. Pimentel said.

"I repeat, GOV. AYEC IS VERY MUCH ALIVE AND WELL," he added, the emphasis on the words his own

Rep. Pimentel, a National Unity Party (NUP) stalwart, went on to urge everyone to refrain from spreading the fraudulent story.

"Let us not be victims to April Fools pranksters, rumor-mongerers and peddlers of fake news." said the former House deputy speaker.
