The PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup returns from a two-break with a clash between collegiate champions EcoOil-La Salle and Centro Escolar University on Tuesday, April 2, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The league took a pause to give way to the PBA All-Star Weekend in Bacolod and in observance of the Holy Week but resumes play like with an explosive double-header featuring defending champion La Salle and debuting CEU at 7:30 p.m. and Keanzel Basketball versus CCI-Yengskivel at 4:30 p.m.
Riding on the crest of two straight blowout wins, the Green Archers, also the reigning UAAP champions, are heavily favored to keep their perfect record but the Scorpions are no pushovers.
CEU is looking who to continue its winning ways after a successful back-to-back championship feat in the Universities and Colleges Athletic League (UCAL).
Their duel against the Green Archers should serve as litmus test for the Scorpions.
But the defending champion Green Archers are not taking their foes lightly.
“It will be harder and harder against every team. We still have to learn how to play better basketball despite our two wins,” cautioned assistant coach Caloy Garcia.
The first game between Keanzel Basketball (0-1) and CCI-Yengskivel (0-1) also promises to be tight match with both teams seeking a breakthrough win.
Keanzel bowed to Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda, 109-59, while CCI-Yengskivel absorbed a 42-point drubbing against EcoOil-La Salle.
