Calasiao, Pangasinan mayor suspends classes due to extreme heat
Calasiao, Pangasinan Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay suspended all classes in the municipality on Tuesday, April 2, due to extreme heat.

He has issued an executive order formalizing the suspension.
"Sa bisa ng Executive Order No. 22, Series of 2024, ang klase sa lahat ng antas ng mga pribado at pampublikong paaralan, day-care, pre-school hanggang senior high school, ay kanselado bukas sa bayan ng Calasiao dahil sa mataas na heat index," Macanlalay said in a Facebook post.
The State weather bureau recorded a 40 degrees Celsius heat index (extreme caution) in Dagupan City, Pangasinan at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 1.
PAGASA also logged a 33.2 degrees Celsius dry-bulb temperature and 62 percent relative humidity.
Chances of heat cramps and heat exhaustion are higher and heat stroke is also possible during extreme heat.
Officials advised people to drink more water to prevent dehydration.
