2 dead, 22 hurt as jeepney rams tree in Batangas

LOBO, Batangas â€“ Two persons died and 22 others were injured when the jeepney they were riding in rammed a tree on Black Saturday in Barangay Malabrigo here.

DOWNTOWN Lobo, Batangas. Two persons were killed and 22 were injured in a passenger jeepney accident in the municipality on Easter Sunday.

Police identified the fatalities as Alberto Urriza, 54, driver, and housewife Virgin Migo, 52, passenger, residents of San Pablo, Santo Tomas, Batangas.

Investigation said the victims were on their way home from a beach outing when Urriza lost control of the jeepney on a descending curve portion of the road.

The vehicle swerved and hit a road barricade and a tree.

Twenty-four individuals were injured.

Urriza and Migo were taken to the hospital where they were declared dead.

Police are further investigating the incident.
