'Wonderful World' starring Kim Nam-joo, Cha Eun-woo rises to third place in ratings

The Korean human mystery drama “Wonderful World” continued its rise in the ratings, posting its highest in the third episode. 

“Wonderful World (원더풀 월드)," which premiered on March 1, stars Kim Nam-joo, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Kang-woo and In Se-mi about a professor who exacts revenge when her son is killed.

The drama is aired on MBC in South Korea and streamed on Disney+ worldwide. 

Based on data from Nielsen Korea, episode 3 of “Wonderful World” on March 8 garnered a nationwide rating of 8 percent in South Korea to place third among shows on terrestrial channels. It was viewed by 1.44 million people in South Korea. 

This is higher by 1.9 percentage points compared to the 6.1 percent (fifth place) nationwide rating “Wonderful World” got for episode 2 on March 2. 

The rating for “Wonderful World” episode 3 peaked at 9.2 percent and among the coveted 20-49 age group, the drama got 2.1 percent to rank first among Friday-Saturday dramas. 

“Wonderful World” chased its competitor, “Flex X Cop,” starring Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Ji-hyun, which got a second place nationwide rating of 8.3 percent for its 11th episode on March 8, down from 9.7 percent in for the 10th episode. 

“Wonderful World” premiered on March 1 with 5.3 percent and placed 11th in the ratings among terrestrial TV shows.  

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon), “Wonderful World” episode 3 got a rating of 8 percent to place fourth. It was viewed by 999,000 people (second place), according to Nielsen Korea. 

In “Wonderful World,” Kim Nam-joo plays the role of Eun Soohyun, a successful professor who suffered depression after her son died. 

Cha Eun-woo is Gwon Seonyul, a medical school dropout who bonds with Soohyun over their similar traumas. 

After her successful career, Soohyun faces a painful event with the death of her son in the hands of others. Driven into a spiraling depression, Soohyun becomes consumed by one thought – revenge.

After being imprisoned for killing the driver who hit and killed her son, Soohyun was released from prison. Based on a request by a fellow inmate, Soohyun’s goal was to find the only survivor of a pension house fire incident. She was surprised to learn that Seonyul is the survivor of the incident.
