Senator Robinhood Padilla said that the Filipino people is indebted to Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader Apollo Quiboloy.

Padilla, in a radio interview on DWIZ, said that this is the reason why he opposed his senator-colleagues' contempt order against Quiboloy.
"Hindi ko masasabi kung ano yung kanilang dahilan. Sapagkat ako ang dahilan ko, itong mamang ito may utang na loob tayo rito. Patunay yan na noong panahon na walang nagsasalita against armed struggle, kasama namin yan (I cannot say what their motivations are for the contempt order. Because me, my reason is, this man, we owe him. The proof is during the time that no one was talking against armed struggle, he was with us)," Padilla said.
"Sana maintindihan niyo kung saan ako nanggagaling (I hope you understand where I'm coming from)," he added.
Padilla is still four signatures short of fulfilling his objection to the contempt order against the church leader, who is facing allegations of human trafficking, sexual abuses, and forced labor.
Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito recently backed out from the original five members of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality who sought to block the panel's contempt ruling. The others are Senators Cynthia Villar, Christopher "Bong" Go, Imee Marcos, and Padilla.
With only a few days left to come up with at least eight signatures from the panel members, Padilla said that he will resort to other legal means such as calling for the adjournment of the Senate investigation.
"Siyempre pwede pa naman tayo mag-motion na tapusin na yung hearing na yun. Siyempre magpapaliwanag tayo kung bakit. Siyempre tatanungin din naman tayo ni minamahal na senador Risa Hontiveros kung ano yung dahilan ko. Mahaba pa po yung proseso (Of course we can still make a motion to end the hearing. Of course, we will explain why. Obviously, we will be asked by our beloved senator, Risa Hontiveros regarding my reason. It's still a lengthy process)," he added.
Hontiveros chairs the committee.
Nevertheless, Padilla said that he is currently waiting for the reply of Senator Mark Villar. He believes that there's a "51 percent chance" that he will join him.
Senators Raffy Tulfo and Grace Poe have rejected Padilla's initiative.
Hontiveros cited in contempt and requested the arrest of Quiboloy after skipping the latest hearing on the investigation of the human trafficking, sexual abuses, and forced labor allegations hurled against him.
Padilla reiterated that the matter should be left to the judiciary.
