CEBU CITY – Shabu worth more than P170 million was seized in the last 14 months in Bohol, the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) reported.

Police Lt. Col. Joseph Berondo, chief of the operations division of the BPPO, said that from January 2023 to February this year, at least 25 kilos of shabu worth P172 million were seized as a result of the province's aggressive campaign against illegal drugs.
Berondo added that from January to March 6 this year, at least 11 kilos of shabu worth P77.1 million were seized.
Last year, 14.5 kilos of shabu worth P95,607,796 were prevented from landing in the hands of drug users, said Berondo.
Berondo added that 757 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted in the past 14 months, leading to the arrest of 815 drug personalities. Arrested individuals included high-value individuals and street-level individuals.
Aside from shabu, 21 grams of marijuana worth P2,520 were also seized.
Police Col. Lorenzo Batuan, chief of BPPO, said the province is intensifying its campaign to reduce the supply and demand for illegal drugs.
Batuan denied allegations that the administration of Gov. Aris Aumentado has done nothing against the drug problem in the province. He also denied that the illegal drug problem in the province has gotten out of hand.
"We were able achieve significant accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drugs because of the support of the provincial government and other agencies," said Batuan.
Batuan assured that the BPPO will continue to support efforts to make the province drug-free.
