Scottie Thompson will likely miss several games for Barangay Ginebra as he recovers from a back injury which he sustained during his Gilas Pilipinas duty in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers last month.

Thompson was present at the sideline of the Kings' 113-107 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Friday, March 8.
Though there is no timetable yet for the return of the former Most Valuable Player, Ginebra head coach Tim Cone would not want to compromise the health of his star guard.
“It was a huge challenge and we are hoping to get him back at some point. But it is one of the issues you cannot put a timeline on,” Cone stressed
“We don’t know when he’s gonna be back. This was an issue that has bothered him in the FIBA Asia qualifiers. When we were at the Inspire camp he was having issues with his back and was sitting out most of the practices,” he added.
Thompson's void was temporarily filled in by Maverick Ahamnisi after nearly listing a triple-double output of 18 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Stanley Pringle chipped 12, while Nards Pinto came as the hero on the defensive end.
“Hoping that he wouldn’t get too bad but it got worse and now we’re paying for that here, him missing games for Ginebra and so that’s the kind of sacrifice we make as a group for the national team,” Cone continued.
“Again we don’t know the timeline. It’s just one of the issues that we can’t tell but the back issue was really a serious issue for a basketball player let’s see how it goes,”
Ginebra will still miss Thompson's service when it meets Phoenix on Sunday, March 10.
