Boy, 9, drowns in irrigation canal in Bago City

BACOLOD CITY – A nine-year-old boy drowned in an irrigation canal in Purok Lopues, Barangay Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, March 8.

Police said the victim, accompanied by his mother, was taking a bath in the irrigation canal, when she went inside their house to attend the needs of her one-year-old son.

She returned to the irrigation canal and was unable to find him.

The victim’s body was recovered in Purok Paho, Barangay Dulao, 1.5 kilometers away from their house. 

The victim was taken to the Bago City Hospital where he was declared dead.

The victim’s mother believed that her son was carried away by the strong irrigation current.
