The BPSF in Oriental Mindoro is the 13th leg in the nationwide caravan and was attended by at least 21 congressmen from Southern Luzon following successful events in Ilocos Norte, Leyte, Davao de Oro, and Camarines Sur.

Ponyong Gabonada, deputy secretary general of the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, said over 265 services will be offered for 50,000 people of this province  during the two-day event on March 9 and 10.

Gabonada said cash assistance amounting to P278 million will be distributed to beneficiaries, mostly individuals from marginalized families, farmers, fisherfolks, and victims of the 2023 oil spill in this province.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development will distribute P62 million to 28,000 poor and disadvantaged people under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The Department of Agriculture will turn over agricultural machineries amounting to P145 million which will benefit 52 farmers’ cooperative and associations.

Oriental Mindoro Rep. Arnan C. Panaligan and Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor, who hosted the event, welcomed House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and fellow congressmen during the opening ceremony on Saturday morning at the Oriental Mindoro National High School in Calapan City.

Panaligan said the BPSF is also a good venue for them in Congress to actually observe and assess the actual implementation or disbursement of the public funds which passed though the legislative body during the budgeting process.
