A member of the notorious "Sputnik Gang" was arrested by personnel of the Pasay City Police Substation 2 during an anti-crime operation on March 7.
Col. Mario Mayames, city police chief, said the suspect, identified as alias Dan, 22, a kitchen steward, was arrested at around 6:10 p.m. in Barangay 39, Zone 5, Pasay City.
Mayames said the police were conducting “Oplan Sita” when they noticed two men on board a pink motorcycle.
He said the suspect and his companion, upon noticing the presence of policemen, avoided the area, prompting the lawmen to chase them.
The suspect's companion was able to elude arrest while Dan was cornered by pursuing policemen. Found in his possession during procedural inspection was a .38-caliber revolver with five live ammunition tucked on his waist.
The suspect was immediately brought to the police custodial facility after his arrest. He was charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).
