Tricycle driver killed in road crash

PAMPLONA, Cagayan – A tricycle driver was killed and his passenger was injured in a collision in Barangay Curva, Pamplona, Cagayan before dawn on Thursday, March 7.

Police identified the victim as Marlon Menor, a resident of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.

Investigation said a car driven by Roger Bautista Jr., 32, a resident of Barangay Agaman Proper, Baggao, Cagayan, occupied the lane of the tricycle in the opposite direction.

Due to the impact of the collision, the tricycle ended up in a rice paddy beside the road.

Menor was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead due to serious injuries.

His passenger, Jonnel Padamada, of Pudtol, Apayao, jumped off the tricycle before the collision and only sustained scratches.

Bautista is under police custody and faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
