The local government of Malabon City offered a total of 10, 227 job opportunities opened by 81 local and overseas companies and recruitment agencies at the Mega Job Fair on Friday, March 8.

The event dubbed "Trabaho, Pangkabuhayan, Negosyo" was held at the Malabon Amphitheater in Barangay San Agustin, Malabon City, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As part of the Women's Month celebration, the Mega Job Fair featured a food bazaar that showcased the products of Malabueño businesswomen and other micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the city.

According to Malabon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Ms. Luziel Balajadia, the event aimed to help job seekers and those showcasing their products.

“This Mega Job Fair, paano natin masasabing kakaiba ito? Dahil ito ay trabaho, pangkabuhayan, at negosyo (This Mega Job Fair is unique because it combines job opportunities, livelihood, and business),” she said.

“Hindi lang tayo naka-focus kung saan magkakaroon tayo ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng trabaho, pero binibigyan din natin ng opportunity ang ating mga manggagawa o may mga hanapbuhay, mga MSME natin, may mga livelihood program, kung saan mai-sho-showcase nila ang kanilang produkto (We are not only focused on where we can find job opportunities, but we also give opportunities to our workers or those with livelihoods, our MSMEs, and those with livelihood programs, to showcase their products)," she added.

Balajadia also added there were overseas recruitment agencies offering work opportunities in countries such as Japan, Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, Taiwan, and Qatar.

Jobseekers may apply for various positions in these countries, including nurses, kitchen staff, salesmen, production sewing machine operators, restaurant managers, bartenders, supervisors, teachers, technicians, construction workers, cooks, welders, and waiters and waitresses, among others.

Balajadia also stated that most of the job offers were “blue collar job” which anyone can apply for and not just those with supervisory-level job experience.

Local companies also offered job opportunities for applicants looking for positions such as chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, accountants, clerks, messengers, welders, and carpenters.

They were also looking for mason machine operators, fork lift operators, Baggers, promodisers, packers, delivery helpers, production workers, and others.

The job opportunities were also opened to non-Malabon residents.

Several national government agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, Social Security System (SSS), and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) set up booths to assist first-time jobseekers in processing their documents and other requirements for free.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the Mega Job Fair is a significant help in providing jobs to the residents.  

“Malaking tulong ang mga Mega Job Fair upang mabigyan ng trabaho ang mga Malabueñong nangangailangan. Tuloy-tuloy po tayo sa pagbibigay ng mga programa para sa pagpapa-unlad at pagpapabuti sa antas ng pamunuhay ng ating mga kababayan (Mega Job Fairs are a big help in providing jobs to Malabon residents. We will continue to provide programs for the development and improvement of the quality of life of our fellow citizens),” she said.
