The story explores the fascinating “what if” scenario of two actors, known for their roles as a BL couple, being in a romantic relationship in real life. This premise has captivated fans on social media, leading to widespread demand for its adaptation into a drama.

"It is with profound honor that we collaborate with the prestigious TV Tokyo for joint production, crafting a formidable Japan-Taiwan alliance that leverages the unique strengths of both entities. We envision 'At 25:00, in Akasaka' as the inaugural venture in a series of impactful collaborations,” said Jay Lin, founder and CEO of GagaOOLala, about Japan's status as the undisputed cradle of BL culture.

Hiroko Natsuno, the original creator, expressed her excitement and gratitude as her work, originally crafted in solitude, comes to life in a new, visually captivating adaptation.

"It's an honor to see my solitary creations reach everyone in a new form, enriched by the talents of a dedicated production team and cast. Witnessing ‘At 25:00, in Akasaka’ transform from paper to a vibrant three-dimensional world is both surprising and thrilling," Natsuno said.

She highlighted the unexpected suitability of her work for visual adaptation and looks forward to the portrayal of her characters by attractive actors.

"This collaboration, including the readers, has been a valuable journey. I hope the reimagined piece brings joy to many," she added, expressing anticipation for the audience's reception of this collaborative endeavor.

"At 25:00, in Akasaka" stars Japanese actors Taisuke Niihara and Kiita Komagine.

The plot follows Yuki Shirosaki (Taisuke Niihara), a rookie actor who seizes his chance during an audition and lands a role opposite the popular senior actor, Asami Hayama (Kiita Komagine), in a BL drama.

As Shirosaki grapples with the pressure of his first major role, Hayama proposes that they enter into a "relationship for the sake of their roles" until filming concludes.

This pseudo-romantic involvement between them off-screen leads to a poignant and beautifully crafted love story that delves into the complexities of relationships within the entertainment industry and between actors.

Satoshi Egawa, the producer at TV Tokyo Drama, stated their goal to faithfully capture the series' intricate love stories within the creative industry.

"The original setting, deeply connected to our reality of creating drama and films, is both a familiar world and a crucible for crafting fiction. We are thrilled and slightly anxious to adapt a work beloved by many," he said, highlighting the team's deep engagement with the original author through extensive discussions since 2020.

GagaOOLala's Chief International Director, Rath Wang, said this is GagaOOLala’s first Japan BL co-production with TV Tokyo, emphasizing the project's unique blend of romantic BL drama production and the celebration of Taiwanese-Japanese friendship.

“This venture is more than just entertainment; it's a testament to the rich cultural ties between Taiwan and Japan,” Wang said.

Further enhancing the cultural exchange, the series will feature the two leading actors exploring traditional Taiwanese night market cuisine.

“We aim for viewers to experience the diverse flavors of Taiwanese cuisine, serving as an enticing introduction to the beauty of our island,” Wang added.

GagaOOLala will begin the exclusive global streaming, with the exception of Japan, of  "At 25:00, in Akasaka," starting April 18 at 11:30 p.m. (GMT+8).

New episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays on the same time.
