Senior citizen dies after being run over by tanker truck in Tondo

A 63-year-old woman died after being hit and run over by a tanker truck in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday, March 6, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (Manila DRRMO) reported.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the victim as Teresita Oliva. 

According to investigation, the tanker truck was traveling along the southbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when it hit and ran over the victim who was crossing the street. 

Police said the incident happened in front of Aroma Compound in Barangay 105. The victim died on the spot. 

The truck driver said he did not notice the victim as she was walking in the blind spot.

The truck driver is now under police custody and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
