Police Lt. Hannah Banquil, deputy chief of the Sagay City Police Station, said that a concerned citizen found the baby wrapped in a black cloth and placed inside an eco-bag and a box.
Banquil said the baby’s head was already bloated and his placenta and umbilical cord were still attached to his body.
She said the baby was believed to be dead for three days.
Banquil said they could not establish if the baby was still alive or was already dead when he was abandoned by his parents.
She said the baby might have died of drowning and floated to the area.
Banquil urged the parents of the infant to surface and assured them that the police will assist them.
She said the barangay will arrange the burial of the baby.
