AI's role in sustainable future to be highlighted in NRCP's 2024 scientific conference

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) emphasized on Thursday, March 7, the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing contemporary challenges across various sectors.

During an interview with Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, Executive Director Dr. Bernardo Sepeda said NRCP's annual Scientific Conference and 91st General Membership Assembly, set to take place on March 12 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), will be anchored on the theme, "Artificial Intelligence for Transdisciplinary Research Towards a Sustainable Scientific Future."

"Maging sa transportasyon, pagkain, kalusugan at iba pang larangan ay kailangan nating gumamit ng artificial intelligence (In transportation, food, health, and other fields, we need to utilize artificial intelligence)," Sepeda said.

He also said that the conference aims to showcase cutting-edge research spanning diverse fields, offering a platform for researchers and experts to share discoveries and insights.

"Ito ay isang pagkakataon para maibahagi ng aming mga mananaliksik at mga eksperto ang iba't ibang larangan na kinapa-palooban ng mga bagong tuklas ng pagpupunyagi (This is an opportunity for our researchers and experts to share the various fields encompassed by the new discoveries of our efforts)," Sepeda noted.

Anticipated to draw over a thousand researchers, government officials, and representatives from various agencies under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), as well as select invitees from the Senate, Sepeda said the event also underscores NRCP's commitment to advancing research for national development.
