2 laborers die after inhaling toxic gas inside well in Kalinga
TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Two laborers allegedly died due to gas poisoning in a nine-meter deep well in Barangay Balawag here on Wednesday afternoon, March 6.

Police Capt. Ruff Manganip, Kalinga police spokesperson, identified the victims as Ernesto Banwa, 43, and Eduardo Ramirez, residents of Barangay Balawag.
Investigation said Banwa felt dizzy while excavating the well at around 2 p.m. and asked assistance from Ramirez. However, Ramirez also felt dizzy on his way down and dropped to the bottom of the well.
The victims’ companion, Jorge Garita, sought assistance from the City Disaster Reduction Management Office and the victims were taken to a hospital here. However, the victims died two hours later.
