In line with the celebration of Women’s Month, the Quezon City local government conducted the QC Kababaihan Festival at the Risen Garden, Quezon City Hall Compound on Monday, March 4.

The Kababaihan festival aims to honor the achievements, contributions, and struggles of women worldwide.
The event showed success stories of women beneficiaries of the “No Woman Left Behind” program of the city government.

Different local government agencies showcased their talent through a dance competition.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte reminded the women not to limit their capabilities.
"Mula sa larangan ng negosyo at pulitika hanggang sa agham at sining, binabasag nating mga kababaihan ang mga pader na kumukulong sa ating kakayahan. Hindi tayo dapat malimitahan (From the fields of business and politics to science and art, we, women, are breaking the walls that confine our capabilities. We should not be limited),” she said.
“Hindi na nakakahon ang mga babae at hindi na sunod-sunuran sa stereotypes. Hinahamon natin ang mga pamantayan at hinuhubog ang mundo ayon sa tama at dapat (Women are no longer confined and are not obedient to stereotypes. We challenge norms and shape the world according to what is right and necessary),” Belmonte added.
During her speech, Belmonte also highlighted that Women's Month is not just about women.
"We are setting the norm that Women’s Month is not just about women but about men as well. A feminist is anybody who believes in the social, political and economic equality of men and women,” she said.
“Hindi mo kailangang maging babae para maging peminista. The discussion on gender equality is not just about women (You don't have to be a woman to be a feminist. The discussion on gender equality is not just about women),” the mayor added.
The city mayor concluded that the progress will start from the women of Quezon City.
"Sama-sama tayong magsumikap para bumuo ng lipunang pantay ang respeto, trato, at pagpapahalaga sa isa’t isa (Let's work together to build a society with equal respect, treatment, and value for one another),” she said.
“Mga babae tayo, at hindi babae lang. Simulan natin dito sa ating lungsod. Mga babae ng Quezon City, tuloy ang pag-unlad! (We are women, and not just women. Let's start here in our city. Women of Quezon City, let progress continue!),” Belmonte added.
As part of the celebration of Women's Month, on Wednesday, March 6, thousands of women joined the Zumba session dubbed “Sumayaw at Umindak 2.0” along Visayas Avenue in Quezon City.

An estimated 6,000 women participated in the dance activity.
