Beauty queen-turned-actress Kylie Verzosa was among the celebrities who mourned the demise of award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose last March 2.
Kylie enjoyed her first lead role in "The Housemaid," working with Jaclyn under Viva Films in 2021. She said she was shocked when she learned about the death of the popular veteran star.
"When I learned the news, sobrang sad ako. Dahil sa kanya, aside from my other co-actors like Albert Martinez, I would like to dedicate my first best actress award to them. Kung wala sila siguro, hindi ako ganun ka-motivated sa film," said Kylie at the launch of sports website sportsplus.ph held at the BGC in Taguig City last Tuesday night.
"Binantayan niya ako. Na-challenge niya ako. She wants me to feel better. She instructed me. Try this and do that.
"Ginawa namin yung 'The Housemaid' during the pandemic. It was my first lead role and then kasama ko pa siya. Super happy.
"Baguhan pa lamang ako noon. So pa-konti, konti noong naipapakita ko na sa kanya yung kaya ko, she supported me naman," she recalled.

But there's one thing Jaclyn told her that inspired her to continue making movies.
"Yung company kasi niya fun lang. Medyo tactless siya at sasabihin niya talaga kung ano ang nasa isip niya.
"Pero ang pinaka-memorable na sinabi niya sa akin is 'may future ka.' Sa huli na niya sinabi yun. After 14 days, parang yun ang gusto kong marinig sa kanya. And, 'Oh my God! Nakuha ko!' "Kylie said.
In November 2022, Kylie won Best Actress at the 2022 Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) for her performance in "The Housemaid."
