Four Filipinos injured after brawl with Thai ladyboys — DFA

Four Filipinos in Thailand were injured after reportedly engaging in a brawl with "Thai Ladyboys," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday, March 6.

Three of the four Filipino victims sustained scratches and bruises after getting in an "argument" with Thai locals, DFA Undersecretary Eduardo Jose de Vega said.

The other one Filipino was not acquainted with the three. He was only a bystander at the hotel where the latter were staying.

His face and head sustained most of the injuries after being mobbed by the ladyboys, De Vega added.

Currently, De Vega said no cases have been filed against the four Filipino travelers as interrogation is still ongoing.

Their and the Thai locals' statements will still be verified through closed-circuit television (CCTV) videos.

Thai local media reported that the brawl ensued after several transgender Filipinos, including the three who sustained injuries, "taunted" the Thai locals on Monday morning.

Based on the report of one of Thailand's media, Khaosod, the Thai ladyboys retaliated the next day by mobbing the Filipinos outside their hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11 in Bangkok.

"[The Filipino travelers] signified that they want to depart Thailand asap (as soon as possible), three will go to their next destination (Mumbai), another to Japan," de Vega said.

"[They] requested assistance to secure Medical Certificate... action [will] be taken," he added.
