DOH backs Finance chief's call to ban disposable vapes
The Department of Health (DOH) has expressed support for Finance Secretary Ralph Recto’s proposal to ban disposable vapes.

“The DOH supports that, in addition to its own perspective, that all vapes should be banned,” the Health department said on Wednesday, March 6.
It also underscored the grave health hazards associated with disposable vapes and vapor products.
These risks include the emergence of e-cigarette or vapor product-associated lung injury (EVALI), nicotine addiction, as well as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
Moreover, the DOH highlighted the environmental danger posed by these items.
Disposable vapes, crafted with non-recyclable plastics and batteries, contribute significantly to electronic waste (e-waste).
Such waste, laden with harmful chemicals, poses a dual threat by contaminating soil and water sources, thereby jeopardizing both environmental integrity and public health.
This move, DOH said, signifies a proactive step towards curbing the proliferation of harmful substances and reducing the environmental footprint of disposable vapes and vapor products.
