BOC partners with Landbank for digital payment of fees

Filipinos may soon opt to pay their miscellaneous fees online as the Bureau of Customs (BOC) partners with the Landbank of the Philippines (Landbank) to use its digital payment system.

In a statement, the BOC announced that it inked a memorandum of agreement with Landbank to utilize its Link.BizPortal for payments.

Link.BizPortal is an alternative payment channel for clients to pay for products and services online for both government and private institutions.

The digital payment system will enhance operational efficiency, reduce bureaucratic red tape, and improve overall service delivery.

It will also streamline payment processes, minimize delays, and provide a more convenient and user-friendly experience for stakeholders.

“Through Landbank's Link.BizPortal, we are not only facilitating smoother transactions but also fostering greater transparency and accountability,” BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said.

One of the key features of Link.BizPortal is the ability to process payments of small and large values.

It will also allow real-time debit from the payor’s account and batch credit to the merchant’s account, and generate and issue online payment confirmation via email, among others.

Lynette V. Ortiz, Landbank president and chief executive officer, affirmed their continuous support for the BOC and promised to continue serving the nation.

On the other hand, the BOC last year introduced the E-Travel Customs System, a unified digital data collection platform wherein travelers and crew members arriving in and departing from the country can put their records for ease of border control and health surveillance.

It also put up the National Customs Intelligence System which serves as an information database to generate intelligence information, and support case build-up, risk profiling, and analysis.

To date, the Customs has a 97 percent digitalization rate so far, wherein 161 out of 166 customs processes were already digitalized.

With these digitalization efforts, the bureau reported exceeding its revenue collection target in February by generating P70.601 billion, or 6.64 percent higher than the P66.207 billion target.

It is also higher by P10.444 billion or 7.82 percent compared to the 2023 collection for the same period.
