A "Bawal Bastos" seminar that seeks to raise awareness of Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Space Act (Bawal Bastos Law) was held in the City of Malolos, Bulacan, spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) as part of the Women's Month celebration.
The seminar was attended by members of the City Council for Women of Malolos, solo parents, and Local Lady Legislators League of the Philippines from the different barangays in the city.
The seminar aimed to educate women about the Safe Space Act.
Guest speaker Councilor Attorney Niño Bautista discussed with the participants the types of disrespect such as catcalling, whipping, sucking, sexist remarks, and sexual advances in public places, workplaces, schools, training grounds and even online or internet.
"Women should be supported and loved, not disrespected," said Bautista.
Bautista called for sanctions such as ₱1,000 to ₱100,000 fine or imprisonment of no more than six months for violators of RA 11313.
Assistant City Administrator Gertudes N. De Castro also attended the event.
