The Catholic faithful have started their pilgrimage to several churches in Rizal Province during the past two Sundays of Lent in preparation for the Holy Week.
At the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, the country’s first international shrine and 11th in the world, church-related activities, aside from Sunday Masses, were participated in by the devotees.
During the regular first Saturday devotion to the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, commonly referred to as "Birhen ng Antipolo" (Virgin of Antipolo), the huge crowd that joined the evening procession was an example of the increasing number of Catholics that are starting to observe the Lenten practices.

Holy Masses during the past three Sundays of Lent in the shrine were equally filled with people with other mass goers occupying the entire church compound.
At the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Taktak Road, Antipolo, which is more than a kilometer away from the international shrine and is located a few hundred meters away from the Hinulugang Taktak National Park, the church was filled with mass attendees during last Sunday’s Holy Masses.

The church’s garden area with crosses, religious images and candle stands serve as the site where Stations of the Cross and praying of the Holy Rosary can be performed.

The Stations of the Cross, which is a meditation on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being done during the Fridays of Lent in most churches and communities in the province.
The Lenten Season started on February 14 while the Holy Week will start on March 24, Palm Sunday.
