The Philippine Esports Organization (PESO) continues its mission of discovering potential talents in the country as it launches the Unity League Mobile Legends Bang Bang tournament which kicks off next month.

PESO executive director Marlon Marcelo said that the tournament aims to attract aspiring esports athletes not only in Metro Manila but also for those who are considered as hidden gems waiting to be uncovered in the provinces.
“PTV has this plan of making esports accessible for everyone through this amateur tournament,” said Marcelo who was joined by project manager Victor Cabuhay on Tuesday’s PSA Forum at the Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.
“Sa grassroots nando’n po talaga ang lahat ng opportunity to grow and help them to pursue their dream na rin,” Cabuhay added.
According to Marcelo, the project wants to clear the stigma surrounding the esports community as the booming industry could actually lead players to better futures.
“Esports is becoming a sport for the youth because of its availability, we want to promote esports responsibly, because of course maraming bad connotations initially na pag gamer ka di ka magiging successful,” Marcelo stressed.
“Yung iba natutupad na nila yung dreams nila [dahil sa esports] kasi maganda talaga yung mga prize pool and ‘yong support,” he added.
The tournament will have five legs from Northern and Southern Luzon, NCR, Visayas and Mindanao, with each stage accommodating 128 teams. The participants will compete in a single elimination round then plunge into the Last 8 for the playoffs. The three remaining teams will have a chance to get a share of the P3.5 million prize pool.
Top winners will also earn a spot to the Sibol training pool and soon represent the country in the international stage.
