Murder suspect caught after 22 years

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police have arrested a murder suspect in Barangay Poblacion, Trento, Agusan del Sur after 22 years in hiding.

The Police Regional Office-13 said Rod, 56, was nabbed on a warrant for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 6, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur dated March 19, 2002. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

Rod was among the 70 most wanted persons (MWPs) arrested in a two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) in the Caraga region from March 1 to 2.

The PRO 13-Regional Operations Division (ROD) said the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) nabbed 20 MWPs, Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), 14; Agusan del Norte PPO, 12; Surigao del Sur PPO, 12; Agusan del Sur PPO, 11, and Regional Intelligence Division, one.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said these arrests were made possible by effective coordination and teamwork between the community and the police.

“I commend our operatives for another successful SACLEO to bring MWPs to the folds of justice,” he said. “Rest assured that your Caraga cops will not stop tracking the remaining most wanted persons as part of our objective to cleanse our communities from the threat of criminality.”
