Muntinlupa Mayor Biazon on e-trike regulation: Walang exemptions
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said all road users, including e-trike (electric tricycle) drivers, should follow traffic rules and regulations.
In a Facebook post, Biazon explained the planned regulation of e-trikes on national roads in Muntinlupa.
The plan follows the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's (MMDA) Resolution 24-022 banning e-vehicles such as e-bikes and e-trikes, and tricycles, pedicabs, pushcarts, and kuligligs on national roads, circumferential, and radial roads in Metro Manila.

The ban is not yet implemented in Muntinlupa but the City Council will come up with a regulation on the use of e-trikes in the city.
“Una sa lahat, priority natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mamamayan kaya malinaw ang posisyon ko sa usapang ito—we need to regulate these e-vehicles on our roads (First of all, our priority is the safety of our citizens, that is why my position is clear on on this issue—we need to regulate these e-vehicles on our roads),” said Biazon
He added, “Alam kong marami ang gumagamit ng e-trikes at nakikita ko din yung practicality nito, pero lahat po ng gumagamit ng kalsada ay kailangang sumunod sa batas. Walang exemptions. Shared public space po ang ating kalsada (I know that many are using e-trikes and I see its practicality but all those who use the road need to follow the law. No exemptions. A road is a shared public space).”
Biazon said he had talked to the City Council and "they agree that we need a local Ordinance to regulate e-trikes.”
Pending the passing of a regulation in Muntinlupa, Biazon advised the public to follow the MMDA regulation which identified national roads where e-trikes are banned. No Muntinlupa road is included in the list.
“Pero tulad ng sinabi ko, kaligtasan ng mamamayan ang priority natin. Nakahanda ang City Government na i-implement ang pag-regulate sa e-trikes sa lungsod. Hindi natin bina-ban ang mga sasakyang ito, but we will regulate it (Like what I’ve said, the safety of our citizens is our priority. The City Government is ready to implement the regulation of e-trikes in the city. We are not banning this type of vehicle, we will regulate it),” said Biazon.
