For Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, the filing of criminal against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) Church leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is good news.
"It's about time that the Department of Justice (DOJ) [took] a decisive step in filing a case of child abuse and trafficking against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy," Brosas said in a statement.
DOJ announced the filing of charges against Quiboloy--the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God"--on Monday, March 4.
"For too long, the cries of child abuse and trafficking victims have fallen on deaf ears, their anguish brushed aside, while Quiboloy evaded justice. This false prophet has sought refuge behind influential figures, notably former president [Rodrigo] Duterte, who actively shielded him from accountability," Brosas said.

The Makabayan lawmaker says she hopes the DOJ's move "is not just another false hope or mere PR (public relations) stunt".
"We call for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure that justice will indeed be served. The victims deserve nothing less than full reparation for the trauma they have endured," she said.
The controversial church leader is facing various charges in the United States (US) in relation to a sex trafficking scheme. He is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
