Expect warmer days ahead as 'amihan' continues to weaken
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, March 5, that while the northeast monsoon, which brings cold temperatures, is still affecting parts of Luzon, the weather system is expected to further weaken.
In the PAGASA's 4 a.m. live report, weather specialist Rhea Torres said warm and humid weather may persist in most parts of the country.
"Although may pagbugso pa rin ng amihan, inaasahan natin by the end of the week ay medyo mahina na ito kaya mainit pa rin iyong mga temperaturang inaasahan natin hanggang sa darating na Friday (Although there is still surge of amihan, we expect by the end of the week that it may weaken, therefore hot temperature is expected until Friday)," Torres said.
PAGASA said from March 6 to 8, the actual air temperatures in some key areas are as follows: Metro Manila (24°C to 33°C); Baguio City (16°C to 25°C); Legazpi City (24°C to 32°C); Davao City (24°C to 32°C); Cebu City (26°C to 32°C); Iloilo City (26°C to 32°C); Tacloban City (25°C to 32°C); Cagayan de Oro (25°C to 32°C); and Zamboanga (25°C to 33°C).
Meanwhile, PAGASA warned the public in Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora of flash floods or landslides in times of moderate to heavy rains, as cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will persist due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be felt caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
The public is still warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
