BACOLOD CITY – Police seized suspected shabu worth P1 million from four persons, including two minors, in buy-bust operations in the cities of Kabankalan and Silay in Negros Occidental on March 4 and 5.

In Silay City, Ronilo Santillan Jr., 35, of Barangay E. Lopez was arrested after he yielded 112 grams of shabu valued at P761,600 on Tuesday, March 5.
Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said that Santillan resisted but he was subdued. Darroca said they had been monitoring Santillan following reports of his illegal activities in the community.
He said the suspect is the younger brother of a 37-year-old man who was arrested by police in a raid in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental on February 21.
Kabankalan City
A man and two minors aged 17 were apprehended and 35 grams of shabu worth P238,000 was confiscated in Barangay 9, Kabankalan City on Monday, March 4.
Police identified the subject of the operation as 46-year-old Rogie Tia. The names of the two minors, including a student, were withheld.
Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said they had been monitoring Tia for months now, after receiving complaints in the community about the suspect’s illegal activities.
Indiape said the minors were caught inside Tia’s house during the operation.
Tia had been arrested for a drug offense but was released through plea bargaining.
Also recovered from Tia a .22 caliber revolver five bullets, two digital weighing scales, P2,030, two improvised glass tooters, and a plastic straw scoop.
The two minors are under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) pending the discernment to file drug charges against them.
Indiape said that drug charges and an additional case for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition will be filed against Tia.
Himamaylan City
A suspected drug pusher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok Makawiwili, Barangay Caradio-an, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Monday, March 4.
Police withheld the name of the 27-year-old suspect who was a former hardware store employee.
Suspect yielded 43 grams of suspected shabu worth P292,400, an improvised firearm known as a pen gun, a 9mm bullet, and the P500 marked money.
Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said the suspect had been monitored for one month following reports of his illegal activities. Suspect, a street-level individual, faces appropriate charges.
