Sydney, who once bagged a bronze medal in World Sambo Championships, ruled the women’s +80kg Senior Sport category while his brother Chino topped the men’s +98kg in Senior Sport in the two-day event.
Ace Larida also grabbed the gold medal in the men’s 88kg Sports Masters event while Aislinn Yap took bronze in the women’s -80kg Seniors Sport category.
Meanwhile, Philippine Sambo Federation Inc. (PSFI) president Paolo Tancontian, father of Sydney and Chino, pocketed a silver medal in the men’s -98kg Sport Masters.
Paolo expressed his gratitude after landing on the podium despite having physical problems due to his age.
“After 23 years from my last international competition at the Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia in 2001, now I can finally close the chapter of my life as a competitor,” Paolo posted on his social media account.
