In celebration of colorectal cancer awareness month this March, the Philippine Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (PSCRS), in collaboration with UP-Philippine General Hospital Division of Colorectal Surgery and UP Association of Biology Majors, will be having the first-ever Bowel Run on March 17 at the University of the Philippines Diliman Academic Oval.
The event is for the benefit of the indigent colorectal cancer patients of the Philippine General Hospital. The PSCRS hopes to raise awareness of Colorectal Cancer, which is the third most common malignancy affecting both men and women and the second most common cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide.
Despite its high prevalence, colorectal cancer is a preventable malignancy with early screening through fecal occult blood test, fecal immunostaining, or colonoscopy. Participants will know more while enjoying a picturesque run under the acacia trees along the UP Academic Oval.
The fun run will have three categories: 3 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 10 kilometers. Registration fee per category is P700, P800, P1000 pesos, respectively. The fee includes a race bib with an official timing chip, a finisher shirt and medal, and a loot bag.
