IPs gather, rally at Liwasang Bonifacio to support Apollo Quiboloy

Hundreds of people from Indigenous People (IP) communities gathered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Ermita, Manila on Monday, March 4, to call for justice for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

According to the Manila Police District, Quiboloy supporters started to flock around 9 a.m. for the conduct of "Kapangyarihan at Kalayaan Ibalik sa Taong-Bayan' (KAKISAB) Prayer Rally."

It said a worship and praising session started around 1 p.m.

The crowd had reached 800 when the prayer rally program started at 3 p.m., police said.

Attendees raised their placards with messages: "Justice for Pastol Apollo," "Resign Risa Hontiveros," "Restore freedom of expression," and "Stop human rights abuses."

Former presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque and Atty. Ferdinand Topacio delivered speeches during the rally.

"Bakit sila natatakot kay Pastor Quiboloy? Dahil natatakot sila sa katotohanan (Why are they afraid of Pastor Quiboloy? Because they fear the truth)," Roque said.

"Huwag natin kalimutan, ang kasaysayan ay hindi inukit ng mga pinupuri. Ang kasaysayan gaya ni Gat Andres Bonifacio Jose Rizal, inapi at pinatay pa. Si Pastor Quiboloy, kailangan niyo muna mapatay muna dahil ang nais namin ang katotohanan (Let us not forget, history is not carved by those who were praised. Just like the stories of Gat Andres Bonifacio Jose Rizal, they were oppressed and even killed. Pastor Quiboloy must be killed first, because we will stand for the truth)," he added.

More than 100 personnel of MPD were deployed to monitor the event.
