Fashion is more than just clothing that you put on to cover your body. For designers, it is a tool to tell their story, to inspire people, and to make fantasy come to reality. While for fashion lovers, it can be a creative way to present their personality. From the way they layer their pieces to styling their looks with accessories, everything is intentionally paired together to create an image that encapsulates who they are. We are lucky to live in a time when the only fashion rule that matters is to break the rule. It champions individuality, produces a new point of view on how we dress, and, ultimately, makes fashion a true form of art.

The latter is something that reigns supreme these days. The line between fashion and art continues to blur as people put creative twists on their closet staples. Whether it involves ripping them apart or adding elements to make them unique, fashion with an artsy and personal take is something people want, even down to the footwear they wear.

Echoing that is beloved footwear brand Havaianas. For this season, the Brazilian label invites everyone to go on many adventures with flip-flops that highlight their creativity and individuality through its Make Your Own Havaianas initiative (MYOH). Started in 2005, MYOH is a customization event that is highly anticipated by many Filipinos. This time, it goes all out in encouraging everyone to design their pair as they collaborate with three Filipino contemporary artists—Dex Fernandez, Gabbie Sarenas, and Jer Dee—a first for the brand.

As a teaser, the artist presented how a pair of flip-flops can be a canvas for art. The brand also announced the coming of MYOH 2024, happening from March 15 to 17 at Moto Streat, Bonifacio High Street. Marking its nearly two-decade legacy of promoting self-expression, this year's MYOH is set to be a grand event, inviting everyone to celebrate style through music.

"Music has the power to bring people together and inspire self-expression," Anne Arcenas-Gonzalez, president and co-founder of Terry S.A.. Inc., the exclusive distributor of Havaianas in the Philippines. "It evolves while also taking us back to the best moments of our lives. This captures the spirit of MYOH and so much of what we love about Havaianas."

At the event, people can choose from a variety of styles, soles, straps, and pins available. The two sole options—Top and Slim—come in an array of colors for mixing and matching to create their colorway. Whether your custom pair takes inspiration from the lyrics of your favorite song, vibes with your current state of mind, is awash in nostalgia, or pulses with the power of your anthem, show them off as you dance to the beats of a live DJ on set.
