CEBU CITY – The provincial government of Bohol has extended various assistance to residents affected by the encounter between government troops and the New People’s Army in Barangay Campagao, Bilar.

According to the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD), six families were affected by the gun battle. OPSWD personnel visited the affected families and distributed food packs.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado said that 26 individuals, including 13 minors, were also given stress debriefing as “psychological first aid.”
Aumentado said social workers will continue to monitor the situation of affected residents. “We really checked their situations especially that there are minors that were affected by the incident,” said Aumentado.
The encounter broke out on February 23. Five alleged members of the NPA, including a Bar passer, were killed in the gunfight. An operative of the Bohol Provincial Police Office was also killed in the encounter.
