The reigning M-series world champions composed of Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano, David “FlapTzy” Canon, Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson, Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, and Rowgien “Owgen” Unigo recovered from a third game hiccup to once again beat the Indonesians in their second straight Finals showdown since the M5.
The win also capped a tournament sweep for the Filipinos who went 5-0 on their way to pocketing a total of $350,000 (P19 million) – $50,000 more than their world championship earning.
Super Marco led the juggernaut in Game 4 as he dominated the gold lane to finish with a clean 7-0-3 record on his signature Beatrix pick. His brilliance led to AP.Bren’s 11-1 win in the title clinching game.
AP.Bren only dropped two games in the two series it played, first coming out unscathed in the group stage where it took down Saudi Arabian team Twisted Minds and Malaysian powerhouse Homebois.
The MPL Season 12 champions got an outright spot to the quarterfinals where they swept Homebois anew, 2-0, before coming through with a 2-1 win over Indonesia’s RRQ Hoshi in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, fellow M5 representative Blacklist International settled for the 5th to 8th places after falling into the hands of FireFlux Esports in the quarterfinals. The team still brought home $35,000.
