Man shot dead by drinking buddy on Maundy Thursday

BACOLOD CITY – A man was gunned down by his drinking buddy in Barangay Hilub-ang, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Maundy Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Junnifer Pancho, 26, of Barangay Hilub-ang.

Police Major Ronald Santillan, Calatrava police chief, said the victim and the 28-year-old suspect were attending a friend’s birth anniversary when the victim annoyed the suspect.

To prevent further tension, a barangay councilor advised the suspect to go home.

However, the victim tailed the suspect who drew a .38 caliber firearm and shot the victim. The victim died from multiple bullet wounds in the chest and neck.

Santillan said the suspect surrendered to barangay officials and turned over to police custody.

Police are awaiting the decision of the victim’s family if they will file murder charges against the suspect.
