Man drowns in Cagayan on Good Friday

SANTA ANA, Cagayan – A man drowned in a beach resort in Barangay Diora-Zinungan here on Good Friday.

Police said the victim, Elmer Villaspin, 35, of Barangay Tamban, Alcala, Cagayan, and his co-worker, James Abad, were having a drinking session when they decided to swim on the sea.

The victim suddenly went under and Abad brought him to the shoreline.

Villaspin was taken to the hospital and a nurse administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on the way.

Unfortunately, the victim was declared dead when he reached the hospital.

Companions of the victim said he does not know how to swim.
