Holy Week 2024: Philippine Red Cross assists over 3,400 individuals
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to provide vital assistance to individuals this Holy Week.

As of 2 p.m. on Friday, March 29, PRC said it has catered to a total of 3,410 individuals nationwide through its Holy Week Ops 2024 which started on March 24.
PRC staff and volunteers were able to take the vital signs (blood pressure) of 3,248 individuals.
The humanitarian organization also attended to 107 minor cases which included abrasion, abdominal pain, allergy, body weakness, blister, bruise, burn, cramp, contusion, dizziness, dysmenorrhea, elevated BP, fainting, headache, hypertension, hyperventilation, laceration, lump, nape pain, neck pain, nosebleed, numbness, shortness of breath, sprain, sting, and stomach ache.
PRC responded to 10 major cases including abdominal pain, chest pain, contusion in the head, deep laceration, drowning, elevated BP, fracture, multiple abrasion, and seizure.
A total of eight patients were transported to the hospital due to bruises on extremities, difficulty breathing, hypoxemia, heat exhaustion, loss of consciousness, seizure, and severe leg pain.
PRC first aid stations were also set up in 62 churches, 38 on road/highways, 20 chapters, 18 in beaches, 17 in terminals, 11 in pilgrimage, 10 in mountains, eight in piers/seaports, five each in parks and pools/rivers, six in gas stations, two each in events place, barangay halls, and malls; and one each in airport, gymnasium, and public market.

PRC also deployed 178 ambulances, 193 first aid stations, 30 welfare stations, nine foot patrol with 2,000 staff and volunteers as manpower.
With the continued influx of travelers and traffic this Holy Week, the PRC said its ambulance staff and volunteers continue their vigilant monitoring in various parts of the country, particularly on expressways, highways, and main roads.
PRC Chairman & CEO Richard "Dick" J. Gordon said they have 178 ambulances ready to assist and respond, along with First Aid Stations, Welfare Stations, and volunteers in different locations across the country.
“Makakatiyak ang mga Pilipino na lubos ang paghahanda ng PRC sa anumang pangyayari ngayong Semana Santa (Rest assured that the PRC is thoroughly prepared for any eventuality this Holy Week),” he added.
