Several areas continue to record 'dangerous' heat indices on Maundy Thursday

Eighteen weather stations nationwide registered heat indices that were considered “dangerous,” based on the monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, March 28.
The following locations had the day’s highest heat index of 44°C: Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Daet, Camarines Norte; Masbate City, Masbate; Roxas City, Capiz; and Iloilo City, Iloilo.
PAGASA said a heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C indicates impending “danger,” as “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity.”
The following areas also experienced dangerous heat indices on Thursday: Ninoy Aquino International Airport station in Pasay City (43°C); Dagupan City, Pangasinan (43°C); Tayabas City, Quezon (43°C); San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (43°C); Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (43°C); Dumangas, Iloilo (43°C); Alabat, Quezon (42°C); Calapan, Oriental Mindoro (42°C); Aborlan, Palawan (42°C); Central Bicol State University of Agriculture station in Pili, Camarines Sur (42°C); Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (42°C); and Cotabato City, Maguindanao (42°C).
PAGASA defines the heat index as the measurement of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.
