BACOLOD CITY - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) northern Negros Occidental has deployed 111 personnel to secure passengers in various seaports in the province during the Holy Week.

Deployed from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday were 18 station personnel, 10 from the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Bacolod, six from the Special Operating Unit, five from the K9 Team Bacolod, two from the K9 Team northern Negros Occidental, 21 Coast Guard auxiliaries, and 49 Naval Marine reservists.
Newly-assigned Commander Paterno Belarmino Jr., head of PCG northern Negros Occidental, said they are on heightened alert from March 22 to April 2 for the Lenten season.
Belarmino said that they have prepared their security and deployment plan prior to the observance of the Holy Week as they anticipate the influx of passengers in sea ports for the long weekend.
The PCG has prepared floating assets to patrol coastal areas to strengthen maritime security measures.
