Cainta's representative for Miss Universe Philippines 2024, Stacey Daniella Gabriel, has officially launched her advocacy, The Daisy Legacy Prison Ministry.  It is an outreach program that aims to rehabilitate women inmates and help them rebuild their lives after incarceration.

Stacey's journey with the prison ministry began at 14, when her late grandmother, Daisy Gabriel, introduced her to this cause. Inspired by her grandmother's compassion and love, Stacey has been involved in the ministry for 12 years, helping over 700 inmates at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City. This personal connection drives her to continue her grandmother's legacy.

Since her grandma’s passing in 2014, Stacey and her family have fully embraced the responsibility of continuing the outreach as part of their life-long promise to Daisy.

Being involved with the ministry entails organizing activities, counseling the inmates, offering prayers, and, most of all, paying regular visits to make the inmates feel loved and needed, especially those in their senior years.

Prison reform was one of the causes that Stacey espoused when she first joined pageantry in 2022, along with mental health and climate action.

Stacey testified how the prisoners taught her how to have a higher purpose. "Every day, they teach me that you can praise God,  no matter your circumstance. There have been many moments in my life where I have asked God if there is a purpose. Is there even meaning to my life? There are moments when I ask Him, please don't wake me up. I am in so much pain. I am so broken. I am so anxious. Every waking hour, I am battling intrusive thoughts. But you know, I realize that God's love knows no bounds whenever I step foot in the women's prison."

"If these women can praise, then so can I. And if they can praise through their circumstance, so can I. God is too good to be unkind. So when you don't understand and can't see His plan, when you can't raise His hand, trust His heart. And the women at the Correctional Institute have done exactly that. They have trusted the Lord," she narrated.

Stacey has partnered with renowned chef Jessie Sincioco for her passion project.

The chef noted, "How it is when you talk about prison. It's so negative, but I have always believed that people, especially women, deserve a second chance. Stacey's work is truly amazing because she inspires prisoners not to lose hope, that there's a beautiful life transformation waiting for them," the chef noted.
