Tulmo finished summa cum laude at Riverside College here last year. He came from a family of medical professionals, as his father Dr. Wilson is a neurologist while his mother Dr. Janet Lydia is a dentist.

In a radio interview, Tulmo said that he really wanted to be a doctor. But he never thought of taking medical technology as a pre-medical course.

Tulmo said that it was his father who advised him that medical technology is one of the best pre-medical courses.

He said the exam was really difficult, as he recalled his experiences during the two-day examination on March 21 and 22.

But the difficulties he encountered did not make him weak, instead he used it as an inspiration to do his best.

He said that he was thinking about his parents and his teachers, and those who believed in him. It gave him strength while taking the examination.

He empathized those who failed, and encouraged them to pray and work harder, to do their best, and put their faith and trust in God.

Riverside College lauded their alumnus for his achievement.

“Your outstanding performance not only brings pride to our institution but also sets a remarkable standard of excellence in the field of Medical Technology,” the school said in a Facebook post.

Your dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to excellence since you were a student have undoubtedly paved the way for this remarkable achievement, the school added.

More than 7,000 examinees hurdled the exam that had a 80.60 percent passing rate and 9,000 examinees, the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) said.
