Davaoenos, family of 5 chosen as lucky first time Baguio visitors
BAGUIO CITY – Two government employees from Davao City and a family of five who are all first-time visitors here were selected by the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) as Baguio-Benguet Lucky Summer Visitors 2024 on Maundy Thursday.

BCBC President Thom Picana of the media selection committee said they are Mea Baling, 33, a government employee, and companion, March Karene Ugdaman, 33, also a government employee, from Davao City and family of five James Soriano, 46, seaman, and children Rezia Joy, 21; Ryza Jane, 17; John Reuben, 12, and Sophia Marie, 10, all from Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The winners were successively chosen while onboard a popular bus company based in Cubao, Quezon City in Pugo, La Union, the gateway to the Summer Capital.
"I have long dreamed of going to Baguio and my children also dream of seeing Baguio. I also have a work colleague who invited me to see the beauty of Baguio. This has come true and we did not expect to be chosen as lucky visitors. Thank you very much for this blessing," said Soriano.
"We had planned for a long time to go sightseeing outside Davao and we saved the budget. It happened that the vacation was long so we took the opportunity to go to Baguio, here we were able to be selected as lucky visitors," Ugdaman said.
They will be given four days of red carpet treatment that includes accommodations, meals, tokens, and guided tours to different tourist sites here and La Trinidad and Tuba in Benguet.
They will pay a courtesy call on Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan in Tuba and proceed to Lion's Head in Kennon Road here for a photo opportunity with members of the media.
They will also be taken to the media camp in Burnham Park to be introduced to BCBC members and join them for lunch before being taken to their hotels.
The search for Lucky Summer Visitor is an annual project of the BCBC since 1964 in partnership with the city government, La Trinidad and Tuba local government, and the province of Benguet.
