Quiapo Church announces road closures in Manila on Good Friday
The Quiapo Church announced road closures in Manila in observance of a procession on Good Friday, March 29.
According to the released traffic advisory, the following roads will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on Thursday, March 28:
- Northbound and southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard from A. Mendoza and Fugoso to Quezon Bridge straight to Padre Burgos;
- Westbound lane of España Boulevard from Padre Campa to Lerma Street;
- Stretch of Evangelista from C.M. Recto to Villalobos Street;
- Northbound lane of Rizal Avenue from Carriedo to C.M. Recto Avenue;
- Stretch of Gonzalo Puyat from Quezon Boulevard (SB) to Rizal Ave.;
- Stretch of Carriedo from Plaza Lacson to Evangelista;
- Stretch of C. Palanca St. from P. Casal to Plaza Lacson;
- Stretch of Arlegui from Quezon Blvd. (NB) to Legarda;
- Westbound lane of Legarda from Arlegui to C.M. Recto;
- San Rafael (Plaza del Carmen) from Legarda to Quezon Boulevard
- Stretch of S.H. Loyola to C.M. Recto to Bilibid Viejo and;
- Northbound lane of McArthur Bridge
Meanwhile, motorists were advised to take the following alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion:
- Vehicles intending to utilize Quezon Boulevard coming from A. Mendoza shall turn right to Fugoso Street and left to Rizal Avenue or Tomas Mapua Street to the point of destination;
- Vehicles from Quezon City utilizing the westbound lane of España Boulevard shall turn left to Nicanor Reyes Street (Morayta), turn left to C.M. Recto Avenue, or turn right to Padre Campa Street, to Fugoso Street, to the point of destination, and;
- Vehicles Padre Burgos Avenue intending to utilize Quezon Bridge or McArthur Bridge shall go straight to Jones Bridge to the point of destination;
- Vehicles coming from Ayala Bridge intending to utilize Palanca Street shall go straight to Padre Casal Street to the point of destination and;
- Vehicles from Sta. Mesa intending to utilize the westbound lane of Legarda shall turn right to C.M. Recto Avenue to the point of destination.
The city government said the roads will be reopened after the procession.
